Still Life With Iris

I served as the Assistant Director for our productions of Still Life with Iris and supported both the artistic and technical elements of the production. My responsibilities included working directly with actors on scene work and character development, helping students strengthen their storytelling and performance skills throughout the rehearsal process.

In addition to coaching actors, I designed the costumes for the production and collaborated with our student costume crew to bring those designs to life. I also designed the lighting and worked closely with our student lighting crew, overseeing and teaching them how to program the cues that supported the storytelling on stage. Beyond design work, I assisted in coordinating rehearsals and production logistics, and during the UIL contest I led our official one-hour rehearsal, ensuring that students were prepared and confident going into their performance.

The production was an incredible success, earning First Place at both the Zone and District UIL contests. Our students were also recognized with numerous individual honors, including two Best Performer awards, Best Technical Crew, Best Overall Technician, and several All-Star Cast and Honorable Mention All-Star Cast recognitions. It was incredibly rewarding to watch our students’ hard work pay off and to celebrate their achievements both on and off the stage.
